Hello! me again trolling you page for no other reason but to have Aunt Samaela come and get me :)

How do you put your figures into perspective environments ? do you..

1. wrap them in a reference box or similar ?
2. go beyond point 1 and try to apply more boxes to each outstanding bodypart etc ?
3. skip any reference box(es) and simply "feel" the perspetive for your figures ?

Regards

See, you already know all tricks :)

I just do line of horizon, divide complex objects into simple primitives ( cylinders, boxes, spheres etc ) and build those primitives according to horizon.
Sometime do square base to see where are vanishing points.

But putting figure in box is also good way

More or less what I thought, thanks for the reply.

Oh, you know I've been looking at a few youtube videos and especially this channel: [link]
That guy shows his own workflow, tips, etc. so I thought: while I don't expect, much less request, videos, is it thinkable for you to post images (maybe in your scrapbook) of elementary sketches where you only have these simple cylinders, boxes etc ? I guess I'm fascinated with others elementary sketches the same way 3d artists are of others wireframes.

Then I will have more free time ( now I am very busy ) I will give you few useful links to good drawing videos.

Hello! I tend to browse channels and ask the question below.

How do you do the following steps:

1. Sketching: physically or digitally ?
2. Pencilling: physically or digitally ?
3. Inking: physically or digitally ?

If any of the former steps is digital, then what software do you use ? and what tablet if any ?

Regards

I do all steps digitally - sketches, inks, colors etc . I already did my share of traditional art ( started with very old ink pen )
Software: Paint tool SAI for sketches and color, Manga Studio for inking and Photoshop 8 for lettering and effects.
Tablet: simple Wacom Bamboo Fun A5

As for software, may I ask what motivated you to use manga studio ? I know it has a very handy toll for people inking with mouse and vectors, namely the tool the tweaks the thichness of lines. But since you use tablet I was wondering what else nice with that app.

As for Tablet, I've actually been thinking alot about a Bamboo Fun Pen & Touch Medium, but they're unnecessarily expensive, about 280 USD here. The Intous4 Medium costs just a bit more (!).

Anyway, I've heard that sketching particularly is hard and tricky with display-less tablets. How long did it take you to get used to it. And are you comfortable with sketching on the bamboo now ?

Sorry for the ridiculous amount of questions -_-

I don't use vector layer or even correction. It spoils drawing skill. I saw people who was great digital artist but can't do anything with real pen and paper. Because they relied too much on digital tools.
Manga Studio without correction of line is closest thing to real ink.

Good choice, I think. I've never tried it.
Intous4 Medium is a lil' big for me. No need to buy something so profession as your first tablet

It was natural. Never noticed difference between real pen and bamboo tablet. Maybe I just used to it.

That's ok :)
